There was no denying the way that Candace and Sertsai feel for each other. Their wedding day really did seem like the happiest day of their lives, making each other smile and exchanging beautiful promises. They seem to bring out the best in each other and share a deep connection. We even got to hear the story of how Candace saved Sertsai life – which is amazing!

Their wedding ceremony was held at Knox United Church in downtown Calgary. We love how grande the Knox United church is for wedding photography. When inside the towering arches and stain-glass windows are so beautifully designed and make for such interesting wedding photographs. We love using the wide angle to really showcase how big this church is.

Their reception was held at The Calgary Zoo and for us it felt great to be back photographing there! The Calgary Zoo offers a wedding day experience like no other. Since your guests get to wander around with the lions and monkeys before the reception, there is no awkward break for photos and everyone gets to have a fun experience during the wedding day. We felt very excited too because Illuminasia was happening at the same time as Candace and Sertsai’s wedding and it meant we got to steal them away for a photo in the butterfly exhibit.

Family members traveled from near and far for Candace and Sertsai’s wedding and all the happiness in a room together was infectious! Sertsai’s family members were beaming while sharing their beautiful Eritrean traditions with us for their wedding and engagement and we felt honored to not only experience their culture but to also get to photograph it.
