Multiday Hindu Wedding

We are so excited to be sharing this wedding story on our blog today. Steve and Nikita's wedding was a multi-day Hindu wedding. The first day of the wedding was Nikita’s Bhatwaan ceremony where traditionally the bride and groom were covered head to toe with turmeric paste and touched with bits of grass to ward off negative forces. A couple of Henna artists came to the party and guests received creative art on their hands and feet. Everyone then got to enjoy a buffet of Indian cuisine, and some fantastic dance performances!

On the following day we went to capture the moments of Nikita and Steve getting ready before the Hindu ceremony. Nikita got her hair done, stepped into her sari, and piece –by- piece put on all her gorgeous jewelry. Right before the ceremony Steve and Nikita got to spend a few minutes together, and in those quiet moments it was so obvious how much they mean to one another and what beautiful people they both are.

On the third day of Steve and Nikita’s wedding was their celebration western style at St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor. We don’t think we could have asked for a better September day. The air was fresh and warm and the trees were super colourful! One of our favourite qualities of Steve and Nikita is that they just know how to have fun! Photographing Nikita getting ready was so relaxing that even her cat Dublin peeked his head out for photographs.  Then we continued an awesome morning with delicious coffee from Phil & Sebastian's, and a little tree climbing from us.

Steve and Nikita – thank you so much for sharing your amazing three-day wedding with us – we just love your happy attitude towards life and each other. We are so honoured that we got to photograph all the moments of your wedding, and we are so excited and happy for you.
